This paper describes some of the theoretical work related to the critical experiments on research heavy water reactors: the first is to consider the experimental scheme proposed, followed by the theoretical calculations and the results of these experiments, and finally the simplified analysis of a series of critical experimental results . Comparisons between the theoretical calculations and the experimental results show that the physical data and computational methods we used can give a result that the error is not more than 5% for the critical size of a heavy water reactor. A simplified analysis of the results of a series of critical experiments gives a simple formula that determines the parameters of the pull-down at various loading levels and water levels.
