FIFA will decide next year who will host the 2002 FIFA World Cup. However, Japan and South Korea will decide this year this year. According to Japanese newspapers, South Korea, Japan’s largest rival, is now relying on the support of the government, the public, its strong financial position and the unique spirit of the Korean nation to form a powerful propaganda campaign that has greatly overwhelmed the Japanese. Outside the Seoul Tower in Myeongdong, the bustling hub of South Korea’s capital, is hung a huge banner with “South Korea 2002” and bidding flags. The Bank of Seoul is the bank that handles special funds for bidding activities. Since the fall of last year, Seoul Bank has received 30-40 billion yen from companies and individuals with zaibatsu as the center. The South Korean government has long indicated its position of supporting the bid to host the World Cup. On January 18 this year, the first chairman of the ROK Hussein Commission and current Honorary Chairman, South Korea’s Prime Minister Li Hong-ku led all officials at the city of Seoul
