Photosynthetic light flux (PPF), specific leaf density (Wa), and total leaf chlorophyll content (Ch1) were measured in April, July and November at several locations in canopy of pruned and un-pruned mango (“TommyAtkins” Pruning the plant cut off about 1/4 of the branches in the middle of the canopy in March. Each canopy trimmed the plant for each season, with PPF being generally more penetrating than the non-pruned plant. Regardless of that assay, neither pruned nor uncut plants had Wa The total chlorophyll content of the pruning plants in November was higher than that in the lower pruning plants, but there was no difference between April and July. In the year of pruning, the pruning treatment had no significant effect on the color of the fruit.
