Objective To investigate the effects of combination of thiocyanate-rich (cabbage) and flavonoids (beans) on the reproductive system of rats and to provide a scientific basis for the rational utilization of these phytochemicals and their source foods. Methods Reference daily intake of such foods, doses and routes of administration of experimental rats were given different doses of a single or in combination cabbage, beans, 30 d, testis and ovaries were removed, and testicular and ovarian coefficient. Male rats with WLJY-9000-type sperm quality detection system for parameter determination. Results The testicular coefficient in group Ⅰ was lower than that in control group and group Ⅲ (P <0.05). The ovariectomized rats in experimental group (except group Ⅰ) were lower than those in control group (P0.05) Compared with the experimental group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). There was no significant difference in the sperm motility and the percentage of a, b, a + b grade sperm in each group (P <0.05). The proportion of d-class sperm and sperm motility in cabbage group and bean group were significantly lower than those in control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Based on the above indexes, it is found that the combinations of cabbage and beans combined with thiocyanates and flavonoids have no adverse effects on the body in the normal feeding dose. With the cumulative intake increased, with the body to show some of the adverse effects, mainly in the weight of rats and sperm motility parameters, suggesting that people in their daily lives should be aware of the rich in thiocyanate, Flavonoid phytochemicals come from the food mix and intake.
