至今国外露天矿进行二次破碎仍以落锤和爆破方法(外部装药和炮眼装药)为主。但打眼爆破方法存在劳动量大、费用高,影响采掘作业,产生粉尘等许多重大缺点。因此,许多国家在提高矿物破碎质量和采用大型运输设备的同时,都有考虑应用新的非爆破法进行二次破碎的趋向。按破碎能划分二次破碎,有机械的(其中包括爆破的)、电物理的、热能的和热力的四种方法。当前井下二次破碎广泛应用爆破法、碎石锤和破碎机。露天矿除使用这些方法外,还采用火力破碎装置、落锤、水楔和其他装置。图1是现有二次破碎方法及其在采矿工艺中合理应用的范围。
