新近出版的美国《教育文摘》在谈到教育的前景和要求时指出:教育发展的两个必然趋势是:知识爆炸和社会发展的速度不断加快。这就要求教育: ①不能再期待指定一种人人必修的课程了。课程的设置一般可以根据内容、技能和处理方法三方面来确定。在内容方面,有用的知识量是这样的大,社会的变化是这样的快,未来的学生对知识的需要又是这样的多种多样,以致不可能肯定哪种专门课程,对应付未来的生活,是有重大意义的。至于技能方面,具备读、写、算(至少对低年级的水平来说)的能力,在今后成功地履行职责来说,可能是有意义的。但即使这些技能也不再被认为是每个学生都必须掌握的了。在训练青年充分适应他们要走向社会生活方面,只有课程的处理方面才谈得上是必须认真考虑的。
The newly published Education Digest, when it comes to the prospects and requirements of education, points out that two inevitable trends in educational development are: the explosion of knowledge and the speed of social development. This requires education: 1 can no longer expect to specify a compulsory course for all. Course settings can generally be determined in terms of content, skills, and processing methods. In terms of content, the amount of useful knowledge is so great that the social changes are so fast that the future students’ needs for knowledge are so varied that it is impossible to determine which specialized course is to meet the future life. It is of great significance. As far as skills are concerned, having the ability to read, write, and calculate (at least for the lower grade level) may make sense in the successful performance of duties in the future. But even these skills are no longer considered to be necessary for every student. In training young people to fully adapt to their social life, only the handling of the curriculum must be considered seriously.
