包头钢铁公司3号高炉(1800m~3)于1988年7月6日停炉进行大修改造,经过半年紧张施工于1989年1月6日点火送风,1月7日顺利出铁。该高炉设有2个铁口(其夹角为30°)、1个渣口、24个风口。出铁场设有30t 推力的液压泥炮、折叠式液压堵渣机和液压摇动流咀,铁水主沟采用水冷方式。高炉为岛式布置,炉体为钢结构大框架。风、渣、铁口区采用异型大块炭砖砌筑,其中有3个风口试用氮化硅结合的炭化硅砖。炉底为炭砖综合水冷炉底结构。炉顶为并罐无料钟装置,通过受料漏斗下方翻板向左、右料罐装料。料罐有效容积
