Combined with the Schrödinger formal theory of beam transmission, information entropy based on quantum mechanism is used to describe nonlinear optical transmission. The theoretical derivation and numerical simulation results show that the entropy and its rate of change in the direction of light transmission can characterize the compression or broadening of light pulses or the focusing and divergence of light beams.
