“诗妖”是一种多含恶言怪论的歌谣。《汉书·五行志》说:“臣畏刑而柑口,则怨谤之气发于歌谣,故有诗妖。”诗妖的出现同社会环境、政治状况有密切的联系。《宋书·五行志》所录“诗妖”48首或源于《乐府诗》,或源于社会底层,或兴起于政治核心地带,多以曲折的形式表达民众或某种政治势力对现实政治的忧虑及不满,从一个方面折射出曹魏至刘宋时期诗妖产生时代的历史面貌。
