The tidal oscillations in the Taiwan Strait are mainly the result of harmonic vibrations caused by tidal waves in the Pacific Ocean. One is the tide of the Pacific Ocean which spreads from southeast to northwest between Japan and Taiwan. When it encounters Zhejiang and Fujian coasts, some turn to the southwest and enter the Taiwan Strait. Another tidal wave that enters the South China Sea from the Pacific through the Bashi Strait Blocked by Guangdong and Fujian coasts, some of them were transferred to the Taiwan Strait. The former two tidal waves are strong and play a decisive role. The tidal oscillations in the Taiwan Strait are of a progressive wave nature, but show obvious standing waves in the nearshore. Semi-diurnal tidal waves are predominantly advancing waves in the northern part of the Strait, and standing waves in the south. The spread of the full-day tide wave is similar to that of the half-day tide wave.
