Hunan is known as “hometown of nonferrous metals” and is one of the important production bases of China’s nonferrous metals industry. The output of 6 concentrates of lead, zinc and antimony concentrates has ranked first in the country. The output of 10 kinds of nonferrous metals such as copper, lead, zinc, antimony and tin ranks the third in the country. After the construction and development during the “Eighth Five-Year Plan” period, Hunan Nonferrous Metals Industry has formed a complete set with modern technology from geology, mining, ore dressing, smelting and processing to scientific research, teaching, design, mechanical construction and domestic and foreign trade.
