After presenting the concept of “superfluity” and theoretically arguing it, Bataille also attempts to extend the “superfluous” experience of life by means of literature. We will discuss in this article the meaning and function of literary fiction in the eyes of Bataille, as well as the relationship between the style of Bataille literary creation and the “superfluity.”
