Bio-on announced that it has signed a number of licensing agreements worth 5.5 million euros (58 million U.S. dollars) with a multinational company to use Bio-on’s polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) in the next three years. Bio-based plastics, used to produce biodegradable bio-based polymers from agricultural waste instead of conventional plastics, to convert waste into raw materials. PHA developed by Bio-on can be made from renewable plant sources without competition from the food supply chain. They guarantee the same thermomechanical properties as conventional plastics with the advantage of being 100% sustainable and naturally biodegradable at ambient temperatures.
