一、INTRODUCTION选文简介: 《纪念花园》(Memory Garden)节选自美国作家安·马丁(Ann M.Martin)的小说《玛丽·安妮和纪念花园》(Mary Anne And The Memory Garden)。经过一个寒假的休息,玛丽·安妮又高兴地迎来了新学期。然而,开学不久,好友阿米莉亚遭车祸遇难。全校师生皆感无比悲痛和震惊。玛丽·安妮更是久久不能从悲痛中解脱出来。她一心要为阿米莉亚做点什么,这样她的心灵才能得到些许慰藉。下面节选的内容讲的是玛丽想为阿米莉亚(Amelia)在校园中建个花园以示纪念。她的这一想法立即得到了好友芭芭拉(Barbara)、阿米莉亚的弟弟以及学校老师的支持。他们就选址的问题还颇费了一番脑筋。
I. Introduction of INTRODUCTION: “Memory Garden” is an excerpt from the novel by the American writer Ann M. Martin “Mary Anne And The Memory Garden”. After a winter break, Mary Anne was happy to welcome the new semester. However, shortly after school started, her friend Amelia was killed in a car accident. The teachers and students of the school are extremely grief and shocked. Mary Anne has been unable to escape from grief for a long time. She wants to do something for Amelia so that her soul can get some comfort. The following excerpt points out that Mary wanted to commemorate Amelia’s construction of a garden on campus. Her idea was immediately supported by friends Barbara, Amelia’s brother and school teacher. They also spent a lot of time on the question of site selection.
