Using the rigid visco-plastic Finite Element Method (FEM), the process of forging for long cone-shaped posts made ofaluminum alloys was modeled and the corresponding distributions of the field variables were obtained based on considering aber-rance of grids, dynamic boundary conditions, non-stable process, coupled thermo-mechanical behavior and other special problems. The difficulties in equipment selection and die analysis caused by the long cone shape of post, as well as by pressure calculation weresolved.
