新课标下的初中英语课程的总体目标是培养学生综合语言的运用能力,以促进语言知识、语言情感、语言技能、文化意识及学习策略等各要素的整体发展,从而培养学生学习与运用英语的良好习惯,为以后更深层次的英语学习打好基础。在教学中,通过利用趣味的教学内容和灵活多样的教学手段,进行分层次教学,联系实际生活,培养学生语言运用能力,提高学生的创新思维能力,从而促进其自主学习的能力与习惯。
