孙金振先生出生于镇江一个颇有名望的书香世家,自幼就接受了良好的传统文化教育,成年后最大的爱好就是读书。他广学博采,对地方史、古代文学、古汉语、诗词、方言、书法以至英语、中药材等的研究都有颇深造诣,是难得的通才。 1985年,镇江市志办成立之初,孙先生应聘参加修志工作。由于孙先生对地方史的深入研究,为《镇江市志》提供考证了大量有价值的资料,被称为市志办的“活资料库”。孙先生参与了建置、人物、方言等卷的撰写及审稿,所负责的志稿资料翔实,质量上乘,得到各界人士的好评。 孙先生博览古籍,却不是一个墨守成规、人云亦云的人,对地方志编修,善于学习,勤于思索,常有独到的见解。他曾就论史与论文、列举与例举、因事与因人、肯定与存疑、宜粗不宜细等提出颇具哲理的观点,至今读来,仍令人有所启发。 孙先生工作勤恳踏实,一丝不苟,虽为临时聘用人员,领取微薄报酬,却不懈怠工作。1991年冬季,孙先生突感不适,将文稿资料整理一一交代,方才告假治病,一个月之后,孙先生就因肝癌晚期不治而逝。办公室同志在孙先生家参加告别仪式,看着那简朴的住房和桌上、橱子里乃至床头堆满的书籍,无不感慨万分,对孙先生的才学源自何处,也有了更进一步的认识。 陈辽先生拜读了孙先生的遗稿后,对其才学文采赞叹不已,只
