广东、香港、澳门 (海南另有文专论 )等地区 ,古为岭南的一部分 ,连为一体 ,仅有陆地与海岛之别。其民族和文明步履基本一致。秦朝统一岭南后 ,以百越为主体的多民族归服中央统一政权 ,内地秦人陆续徙入 ,增进了这一地区与中原经济、文化的交流。秦末至西汉初 ,南越王国为这一地区的安全和经济文化发展做出了积极贡献。归服中央政权统治后亦然。汉武帝灭南越王国 ,设立郡县 ,当地居民大都成为汉朝的编户齐民 ,汉文化在该地区广泛传播 ,促进了民族融合和文化发展 ,且成为汉朝海上“丝绸之路”的中枢地和聚汇中心 (今广州 )。东汉王朝时期亦然。秦汉时期 ,尤其是汉武帝以后 ,广东、香港、澳门等地区的民族与文化 ,呈现出蓬勃发展趋势 ,基本上已赶上中原社会发展的步伐。从而说明了只有国家的统一 ,民族的团结 ,与海外或邻国的交往 ,边远地区的百姓生活才能比较安定 ,社会才能较快发展 ,落后面貌才能得到较快改变。

This shows that only by reunification of the country, national unity, interaction with overseas countries or neighboring countries, the people’s living conditions in remote areas can be relatively stable, the society can develop rapidly and the backwardness can be rapidly changed.
