The described infrared system is a simple and low-cost pilot alarm. The system is required to provide maximum information to pilots and to provide alerts and images that provide data on the ascent or relative orientation of other aircraft. These data illustrate fixed disturbances, such as the flight path and longitudinal axis of an airplane. The system we studied did not conflict with the automatic collision avoidance system. The initial consideration was to provide civil aircraft with a simple system and to increase the ability to prevent collisions. The system at least in the range of 2 to 5 miles for multi-target detection, audible alarm, while allowing pilots to get the orientation of other aircraft. Based on these simple requirements, the cooperative pilot alarm indicator system developed was based on infrared detection of the light source mounted on each aircraft. The system is described with the possibility of investigating the light source-detector combination. These systems must give careful consideration to the omni-directional detection of aircraft equipped with xenon lamps and must further investigate the use of this method.
