我县位于晋中地区的东南部。属于土石山区,全县总面积为304.2万亩。其中水土流失面积146万亩。耕地25万亩。其中坡耕地15.45万亩,现有森林面积15.7万亩,已初步治理水土流失面积63.4651万亩,占总面积的43.47％。由西漳河贯穿县境内。有自然沟514条。沟壑交错,地形错综复杂。森林面积疏散、稀少。植被较差,水土流失严重。
