Computer monitors have more or less retained some of the same things in the past 12 years, but in the next couple of years you’re likely to be using a very different monitor. At the recent Society for Information Display, developers showed some technological innovations for improving microdisplays, plasma displays and cathode ray tube displays. In the liquid crystal display, companies are stepping up their investment to increase production, but analysts expect liquid crystal display prices to rise in the short term. Stanford Resources, a research firm, predicts that in 2001 or 2002 LCD TVs will have more retail sales than traditional cathode ray tube displays.
