INTRODUCTION New high-strength aluminum alloy 7010 and 7050 were developed respectively by British Alcan Company and American Aloca Company to improve the resistance of SCC and require the fracture toughness not less than the original 7075 alloy in T_6 state. Due to the lower quench sensitivity of the new alloys, it is possible to make thick section parts.
