Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there， to serve some sort of purpose， teach you a lesson， or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people maybe （possibly your roommate， neighbor， coworker， long lost friend， lover， or even a complete stranger）. But when you lock eyes with them， you know at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound[1] way.
当有些人走进你生活，你立刻就会发现他们是注定要出现的，他们带着这样或那样的目的，或是给你上一课，或是帮助你领会到自己是什么样的人，自己希望成为怎样的人。你不知道这些人可能会是谁（也许是你的室友、邻居、同事、久未谋面的挚友或恋人，甚至只是萍水相逢的陌生人）。但是当你的目光锁定他们的那一刻，顷刻间便会知道他们将深深地影响你到的生活。
And sometimes things that happen to you may seem horrible， painful and unfair at first， but in reflection[2] you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential， strength， willpower， or heart.
并且有时侯，发生在你身上的事情仅仅起初看起来可怕、痛苦，或者不公平，但是细想起来你便会发现，如果不曾克服这些障碍，你永远也不会意识到自己有多大的潜能、力量、毅力或者决心。
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness， injury， love， lost moments of true greatness and sheer[3] stupidity all occur to test
the limits of your soul. Without these small tests whatever they may be， life would be like a smoothly[4] paved， straight， flat road
to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable， but dull and utterly pointless[5]. The people you meet who affect your life， and the success and downfalls you experience， help to create who you are and who you become.
凡事皆事出有因。没有事情仅仅是偶然出现或运气使然。疾病、伤痛、爱情、与成功失之交臂，以及彻彻底底的糊涂犯错，这些都是对你精神极限的考验。不管是什么样的小小考验，如果没有它们，生活就会像平铺直坦的道路，纵然安全舒适，但却单调乏味、毫无意义。你所遇到的那些影响你生活的人，以及你所经历的成功与挫败，都有助于塑造和成就你的人生。
Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact， they are probably the most poignant[6] and important ones. If someone hurts you， betrays you， or breaks your heart， forgive
them， for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious when you open your heart. If someone loves you， love them back unconditionally， not only because they love you， but because in a way， they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.
甚至从那些不幸的经历中，你也能够汲取教训。事实上，它们可能是你最刻骨铭心，最重要的人生阅历。如果有人伤害了你，背叛了你，或者让你心碎不已，原谅他们吧，因为是他们让你认识到什么是信任，认识到当你敞开心扉时仍然需要保持一份警惕的重要性。如果有人爱你，那么也无条件地去爱他们吧。不仅仅因为他们爱你才去爱他们，还因为在某种意义上，他们在教你如何去爱，教你如何敞开心扉，睁开双眼去发现美好的事物。
Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people that you have never talked to before， and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love， break free， and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself， for if you don’t believe in yourself， it will be hard for others to believe in you. You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it with no regrets.
让每一天都充满意义吧。珍惜每时每刻并尽己所能地从中汲取所需，因为你可能永远也无法再有这种经历。跟那些你从来没有说过话的人交谈吧，并注意聆听。让自己去爱吧，挣脱束缚，让目光高远。让你的头高高昂起吧，因为你有权利这么做。告诉自己你很了不起，并相信自己，因为如果连你都不相信自己别人就更难相信你。你可以做任何想做的事来塑造你的人生。创造你自己的人生，并无怨无悔地去生活吧。
