身法,是身体主导权衡拳势的一种组织法则,太极拳是一项独特的人体运动。关于躯干、上肢与下肢的操练拥有着特定的要领和规则,这就是人们俗说的练习方法,我们在练习太极拳中所提到的尾闾中正、含胸拔背、松腰敛臀都是对身体中部所说的。身法是历代太极拳家根据实践经验和集中群众智慧而提炼出的某些外形合内动的要旨。在世世代代的太极拳传授过程中,名家们都非常重视身法的学习与领悟。郝少如曾经说过:“太极拳艺是在身法的基础上建立起来的”。身法是组织内形、产生内劲的关键环节,只有在身法运行得当的前提条件下,才可以使身、手、步按照太极拳的特定要求进行运动,才能做到相互间的协调配合,达到以内形来支配外形的目的。习练太极拳大致可分为三个主要阶段:初级阶段,学习拳架;中级阶段,学习身法;高级阶段,学习内劲。这三个阶段也是相辅相成,缺一不可的。学习太极拳自然由初级开始,而每个有志于太极拳事业者或太极拳爱好者都希望能达到高级阶段。为了能达到太极拳的高级阶段,必须要在身法训练上狠下功夫,中级阶段是由初级通向高级的阶梯,不可逾越,不可忽视。
