中国20世纪30年代京派文学的代表作家沈从文,他用其浓浓的乡情既给我们描绘了原汁原味的“边城”风景画,又饱含感伤之情感慨近代文明逐渐侵蚀的湘西。而19世纪末20世纪初英国杰出批判现实主义作家、诗人托马斯·哈代,也用他的神来之笔将悲剧性的人物搬到了“威塞克斯”的舞台。两位作家在乡土题材的作品中异曲同工之妙,又有着各自深刻的体悟。
Shen Congwen, the representative writer of the Beijing school literature in the 1930s in China, used his thick nostalgia to portray the original Xiangbian landscape as well as the sentimental feeling of modern Western civilization gradually eroded. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, British eminent critical realist writer and poet Thomas Hardy also used his inspiration to move the tragic figure to the stage of “Wessex”. The two writers in the local themes in different works with the same purpose, but also have their own profound understanding.
