Selenium is an essential nutrient for the body. The daily minimum intake for adults is 50 micrograms, the maximum safe intake is 400 micrograms, and the optimal supplement is 250 micrograms per day (halved for children aged 4-7 years). More than 40 kinds of diseases in the world are related to selenium deficiency, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
