The development of smart materials is a rapidly evolving new field that draws the attention of many academic researchers such as medicine, biomaterials, aerospace, materials science and computer engineering. Smart material is also a new type of composite material consisting of sensors, information processors and actuators that can sense the external stimuli and change its own characteristics to adapt to changes in the environment. Conceptually, smart materials are based on a combination of materials science and advanced advances in computer engineering that enable people to explore the use of non-linear effects of material composites to create new materials.
