Minimalist abstract sculptures of the 1960s matured in the United States, and artists have argued that the theory that “each piece is only one thing” and “less is more” still affects the present day. Taking representative minimalist sculptures as examples, this paper reflects on the existence of “things ” through visual and philosophical aspects in the context of modern art. While thinking about the traceability and the closeness between Chinese and western cultural thoughts , Come to the conclusion that “Tao ” in Chinese traditional philosophy is similar to “world ” in western philosophy. Art is the return of life to its source, thus finding a theory and national confidence in the teaching and application of abstract sculpture in Chinese art schools.
