The Mississippi Test Station is the test site for the largest rocket in the United States and it has become a key link in quality control and reliability. The Mississippi Test Station is a division of the Marshall Space Flight Center with a large rocket test-bed, test control, and support facilities. Scientific laboratories, utilities such as hydropower and a full range of industrial facilities can test rocket engines with thrusts of over 7.5 million pounds. The scale of the Mississippi pilot station (13,424 acres) and the operation of a full set of equipment required considerable facilities and utilities for a small city (a small city that has successfully implemented industrial management systems in its main operations).
