1. What is a Cable Modem? A Cable Modem is a device that is accessed at high speed through the Cable TV (CATV) network. Typical connections are as follows: One end is connected to a computer and the other end is connected to a wall outlet. What is the speed of Cable Modem? Cable Modem speed range is very wide. Downstream channel (from the network to the computer) rate up to 36Mbps, in practice, usually 3-10Mbps; uplink channel (from the computer to the network) up to 10Mbps. Of course, most products have multiple select keys between 200Kbps and 2Mbps. In the early days of Cable Modem, asymmetric products dominates.
