In the fifth issue of “Astronomy Enthusiasts” in 1982, an article by Comrade Zhang Zhifu was published. The title of the article was: “Does the East always see sunrise before the West?” (hereinafter referred to as “before”). The article argues that the teaching of “China Geography” in the secondary school textbooks, Chapter One, “Time Zones and Date Lines,” and “The East is always the first to see sunrise in the West” is not accurate enough. The spirit of the author’s courage to explore and diligent in thinking is commendable. However, one cannot fail to point out that the argument of “preceding text” is unscientific and the proposition is not appropriate.
