《消费报》是上海社科院新闻研究所主办的周报,原为四开四版小报,1992年5月扩大为四开八版,明年一月起又将由周报改为日报(四开四版),其发展速度是惊人的。中共中央宣传部副部长龚心瀚在前不久该报创刊八周年的贺信中予以充分肯定:“上海《消费报》从零开始,从小到大,走过了艰苦创业的历程,不断取得进步,不断取得成绩,不断走向成熟,受到广大读者的欢迎。”《消费报》之所以获得成功,在于较好地解决了——在社会主义市场经济大潮中,如何进一步办好经济类报纸,以及如何适应社会主义市场经济的需要,面向受众市场,办出一张深受广大读者欢迎报 The Consumer Newspaper is a weekly newspaper hosted by the Press Institute of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
