The APACHE II scoring system has been widely used in abroad to assess the severity of critically ill patients and to assess the prognosis and to guide clinical treatment. This article analyzes the APACHEII scoring system for postoperative critically ill patients admitted to our department of anesthesiology from September 1996 to October 1997 in our hospital, and discusses the APACHEII score of the ICU in primary hospitals.
