丰润工务段管辖的京秦线278km线路,提速改造工程于2002年10月底完成,行车速度达到160km/h。更换SC325型60kg/m12号可动心提速道岔147组,涉及燕郊至银城铺12个站场。新的SC325型道岔投入运营不久,2002年11月30日在段管内三河站11~#道岔第一次发生了长心轨折断,后相继在丰润、燕郊、别山等站发生了SC325型长心轨折断,总计5根,给行车带来很大的威胁。因目前国内尚无对该型号道岔长心轨的探伤检测方法,我们把道岔的这一区域称为探伤死角区。这147组提速道岔存在的安全隐患,引起了我段对长心轨探伤
