柴油经过预热，使进入高压油泵和油咀的柴油之浓度、粘度变稀，油中含有的水份在预热中汽化，因而无水进入油泵和油嘴，加上燃烧充分，不易积炭，油泵油嘴使用期限均能大大增长。广东七二三队车间发电机组的一台3110型45马力柴油机，装上如图介绍的预热器以来，经过3000多小时的负荷运转，高压油泵和喷油嘴保持了良好的工作性能，没有一个需要更换。附图介绍的两种预热器，是723队一分队修配组根据不同机型设计制做的。一种配于衡阳2105型（24马力）柴油机
