HP公司于3月下旬宣布,该公司的第一种DDS-3磁带驱动器——HP SureStore DAT24已开始大量面市。DDS3为DDS(Digital Data Storage-数字数据存储)格式的最新版本,它利用DAT(Digital Audio Tape-数字录音磁带)技术进行备份。这一产品的面市标志着人们从此可以使用容量高达24GB的DAT磁带了。该驱动器的出众之处在于它的可靠性,即30万小时MTBF(Mean Time Between Failjures-平均无故障时间)。其中包括HP为诊断磁带存储故障而研制的全新固件技术TapeAlert,以及为避免因磁头被灰尘堵塞而导致读写错误的一种特殊设计的自动磁头的内部清洗器。
HP announced in late March that HP SureStore DAT24, the company’s first DDS-3 tape drive, has started to appear on the market. DDS3 is the latest version of the Digital Data Storage (DDS) format that uses DAT (Digital Audio Tape-Recording) technology for backup. The availability of this product marks the day when people can use DAT tapes up to 24GB. This drive excels at its reliability, the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 300,000 hours. Including HP TapeAlert, a new firmware technology developed to troubleshoot tape storage problems, and a specially designed automatic head cleaner to avoid read / write errors caused by clogged heads.
