The 12-year new home by the famous English writer Pattack, “The House of Toby,” depicts the experiences of a group of young artists from Britain’s upper and middle class before and after World War I. In the context of this great war, almost all the characters in the novel are traumatized to some extent due to various reasons such as personal pursuit and social morality. At the same time, they are struggling to emerge from the trauma through different forms of self-salvation, forming an incredible psychic ascension. This paper attempts to use the theory of trauma to analyze the traumas suffered by all the characters in the novel and hope to guide people to effectively overcome the trauma while alerting the ruthlessness and brutality of the world war.
