常言道“有话则长，无话则短”。唐韵笙与童芷苓两位风格完全不同的京剧表演艺术家的合作往事，还得慢慢地从头说起。 唐韵笙，原名石斌魁，满族人，原籍辽宁沈阳，生于1903年。父亲中过秀才，不幸英年早逝，家境贫苦。适逢河北京剧艺人唐景云，见石斌魁天资聪颖，乃可塑之材，愿收徒培养，并作义子，改名为唐韵笙。不想半个世纪后，唐韵笙竟以“南麒北马关外唐”之誉闻名华夏成为杰出的京剧艺术家。唐韵笙擅演关羽戏，与林树森、李洪春并驾齐驱享誉盛名，成为“红生”三大流派之一的菊坛名家。
