Diallyl disulfide (DADS) is one of the organosulfur compounds of garlic, it has beneficial effects to protect against many diseases. DADS has no toxicity to normal tissue until treat with high concentration. It not only can upregulate superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and glutathione (GHS) to reduce free radical formation, but also can slightly increased the expressions of p85a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K), phosphorylated Akt and phosphorylated glycogen synthase kinase-3(GSK-3) to protect cells[1].
