The boiling point (b.p.) of straight-chain paraffins increases with the increase of the number of carbon atoms N, but the degree of increase decreases with N. Many empirical formulas are put forward for this law, in which empirical formula log (1078-b.p.) = 3.031, -0.04999N ~ (2/3) (1)
