At present, more and more metal structures of 100 mm thickness and thicker are beginning to emerge in the machine-building industry and other industrial sectors. The individual parts of these structures are large in size and weight and must be made of several parts that are joined by electroslag welding. Many of these parts are welded at the plate ends at the joints. Plates Electroslag welding occurs as a method of welding short welds exceeding 500 mm in thickness. Later this method was also used to weld very long welds and almost all of the thick metal that assures a stable electroslag process. This is because the equipment needed for plate welding is much simpler than the equipment needed for the various electroslag welding methods known to date.
