Objectives To understand the role of disposable shoe covers in controlling nosocomial infections in intensive care unit (ICU). Methods Investigate the use of disposable shoe covers, the environmental impact of surgical ICU and hospital infection. Results The total number of airborne bacterial colonies without disposable shoe cover was lower than that of the disposable shoe cover set (P <0.05), and there was no significant difference in the passing rate of the total number of bacterial colonies on the surface to sanitary standards (P> 0.05). The incidence of nosocomial infection was 21.5 ‰ in disposable shoe covers and 17.1 ‰ in non-disposable shoe covers. Conclusion The use of disposable shoe covers has no practical significance for improving the environmental quality of surgical ICU and controlling hospital infection.
