拉尔夫·达伦多夫是当代西方著名的社会学家、哲学家和政治学家。他基于阶级冲突演变的分析视角,结合近代西方社会大转型的历史进程,指出现代社会的实质就是拥有“自由与平等”的“公民”社会。在他看来,基于市场经济契约平等意蕴下的“公民身份”运动是“公民社会”的逻辑起点,公民社会具有多元性、自治性、文明性等基本属性,通过公民社会建制可使现代社会冲突得到有效的管控和调适,为人们创造一个更加心满意足的生活状态。
