新丰江水库的发震构造是北北西断裂破碎带和北京东向挤压带或断裂带。研究表明,它们在现今北西西~南东东向区域构造挤压应力的作用下,处在或接近于两组最大剪应力方向上,成为剪切共轭系统。其剪切共轭系统使地壳垂直形变具有大致的对称型四象限分布。由于两组发震构造发展过程和活动状况的差别,受库水影响之程度不同,因而使地震活动的时序、强度及活运深度均有较大差异。
The seismogenic structure of Xinfengjiang Reservoir is the North-West-West fault zone and the eastward compression zone or fault zone of Beijing. The research shows that under the effect of the tectonic compressive stress in the North-West-South-East-East region today, they are at or near the direction of the maximum shear stress of the two groups and become shear conjugate systems. Its shear conjugate system makes the crust vertical deformation has a roughly symmetrical four-quadrant distribution. Due to the difference between the development process and the activity status of the two seismogenic structures and the different degrees of influence by the reservoir water, the sequence, strength and depth of the earthquakes are all greatly different.
