According to Jean-Mare Lalouel of Utah State University and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a study of hypertensive patients in Utah and France suggests that the occurrence of hypertension is closely linked to the role of genes. Five hundred patients with hypertension were observed at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and two doctors at two Parisian hospitals and compared with a group of healthy people. Three differences were found. They studied and identified 15 possible defects in the gene for angiotensin (AGT), a gene that occasionally suffers from defects in people with normotensive and hypertensive subjects at two specific sites in the AGT gene Often there are flaws.
