一、引言在光纤通信中限制通信距离的是光纤的传输损耗及色散.由于使用较长的波长及材料工艺的改进,光纤损耗已降到很低的程度,色散成了限制多模光纤通信系统通信容量和中继站间距的主要因素.单模光纤不存在模间色散,因而信息容量比多模光纤大得多.单模光纤的这一优点,使其非常适合用作远距离、大容量光纤通信系统的传输媒介.
