臼齿(Molar Tooth,简称MT)碳酸盐岩是一种具有特殊组构和形态的元古代碳酸盐岩.臼齿构造就其形态可分为原地臼齿构造和异地臼齿构造,原地构造分为丝状构造、条带状构造和瘤状构造;其中条带状构造又可进一步分为:简单的垂直条带、复杂条带、风暴作用原地破碎的条带以及瘤状灰岩中分布的臼齿条带.异地臼齿构造又可分为臼齿碎屑块体、臼齿碎屑流层;通过对吉辽地区5个发育臼齿构造的地层剖面中臼齿形态与宿主岩石物质组成关系的研究表明,臼齿构造形态类型与岩石物质组分的关系密切,依其关系可将臼齿构造形态分为7种组合类型.根据不同臼齿构造赋存于具不同物质组成的不同宿主岩石所指示的沉积环境,可进一步揭示不同形态臼齿构造所对应的沉积环境:臼齿类型不同,其沉积环境亦不同.因此,对臼齿构造形态类型的研究,可为臼齿碳酸盐岩的沉积相研究提供依据.
