Objective: To explore the role of the hypothalamus in the regulation of central nervous system during exercise-induced fatigue. Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group and experimental group. The tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and dopamine type 2 receptor (D2DR) -positive cells in the hypothalamus of swimming rats were observed by immunohistochemical staining Changes in expression levels. Results: TH-positive cells in the hypothalamus of rats in the experimental group were stained lightly, the number of positive fibers was decreased, and the areal density was significantly lower than that of the control group (P <0.05). D2DR-positive cells in the experimental group stained slightly, the number of positive staining increased Cell optical density and surface density values were significantly higher than the control group (P <0.01, P <0.05). Conclusion: Exercise-induced fatigue can lead to a significant decrease of TH expression in hypothalamus and D2DR expression.
