刘靖之先生的学术研究涉及中国新音乐史、音乐评论、文学史论、翻译等多个领域,但音乐学界对他的了解大多是其数十年来关于中国新音乐史论的持续研究,特别是他的大部头著作《中国新音乐史论》,从1998年初版到2009年增订版,都引起了学界的极大关注。笔者曾于几年前应香港中文大学出版社之约,为《中国新音乐史论》(增订版)写过书评。大约是在2014年秋季,笔者又获赠香港商务印书馆新出刘靖之先生又一力作《香港音乐史论》(以下简称《史论》),出
Mr. Liu Jingzhi’s academic research covers many fields such as the history of Chinese new music, music criticism, the history of literary history, and translation. However, most of his understanding of music by music scholars is due to his continuous research on the history of new Chinese music in the past decades. In particular, His masterpiece, The Theory of the History of New Chinese Music, from the first edition in 1998 to the edition in 2009, has aroused great concern of the academic circles. A few years ago, I wrote a book review for the “Theory of New Chinese Music History” (an updated edition) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Press. About the fall of 2014, I was awarded a new masterpiece “History of Hong Kong Music” (hereinafter referred to as “History of History”) by Mr. Liu Jingzhi from the Hong Kong Commercial Press.
