To the editor:Urinary tract infection has a reported prevalence of 14% in febrile infants younger than 8 weeks.Urinary tract infections in newbs are sometimes associated with urological anatomic abnormalities.Anterior urethral valves (AUV) are extremely rare congenital entities which cause obstructive uropathy in the lower urinary tract of children and may be difficult to diagnose. Most urinary tract infections are caused by gram-negative bacilli, particularly Escherichia coli.(E.coli) has a high antibiotic resistance, and most strains are multi-drug resistant. We present a newb with AUV in order to emphasize the importance of identifying urinary tract infection in a male infant.
